TiBw/Ti60composites with a novel network microstructure were fabricated byan in situ reactive vacume hot pressing method based on the system of Ti60particleand TiB2particle. Hot rolling deformation and heat treatment were performed tosome of the as-sintered TiBw/Ti60composites. Microstructure of Ti60alloy andTiBw/Ti60composites were observed by opticle microscope and scanning electronmicroscope. Tensile properties, compressive properties and bending properties ofthe Ti60alloy and TiBw/Ti60composites were measured at room temperature, andTensile properties and anti-oxidation properties of the Ti60alloy and TiBw/Ti60composites were measured atelevated temperatures. Effect of TiB whisker volumefraction on mechanical properties and high temperature anti-oxidation propertieswere analyzed.TiBw/Ti60composites with a novel network microstructure and TiB whiskervolume fraction of5%,8%and12%were fabricated by low energy milling and anin situ reactive vacume hot pressing techniqies. TiBw/Ti60composite with TiBwhisker volume fraction of8%shows the optimum network microstructure, and inwhich the TiB whiskers can be observed clearly. The network microstructure in theTiBw/Ti60composite was enlongated in the rolling direction after hot rollingdeformation, meanwhile, fine and equiaxed Ti60matix was formed in the as rolledTiBw/Ti60composite. Biphase structure in the Ti60matrix was disappeared in thesolution treated TiBw/Ti60composite, but the network microstructure of the TiBwhisker was kept.The as sintered TiBw/Ti60composite with the TiB whisker volume fraction of5%shows the much higher room temperature tensile strength and lower elongationcompared with the Ti60alloy. With the increase of the TiB whisker volume fractionup to8%and12%, room temperature tensile strength and bending strength as wellas the ductility of the as sintered TiBw/Ti60composite decrease. In the range of theTiB whisker volume fraction within8%, with increasing the TiB whisker volumefraction, room temperature compressive strngth of the as sintered TiBw/Ti60composite increases and compresive ductility of the composite decreases. Both roomtemperature bending strength and ductility of the TiBw/Ti60composite areimproved by hot rolling.With the increase of the TiB whisker volume fraction, high temperature tensilestrength of the TiBw/Ti60composite increases first and then decreases, and theTiBw/Ti60composite with the TiB whisker volume fraction of8%shows the beststrengthening effect. The TiBw/Ti60composite with the TiB whisker volume fraction of5%shows the best high temperature anti-oxidation properties at600℃and700℃, wihle, The TiBw/Ti60composite with the TiB whisker volume fractionof8%shows the best high temperature anti-oxidation properties at800℃.
