The tailings are important facilities in mine enterprise, its stability is not only related to the downstream people’s life and property security, but also causes great economic loss. Therefore, the analysis of the stability and reasonable safety monitoring technology are very necessary.Through field and laboratory experiments to determine the mechanical properties and parameters of tailings, built calculation model of the tailings dam in the static, dynamic and seepage damage. analyze and evaluate the stability and safety hazards of the Zhang Mine tailings. Studying and designing the safety monitoring and early warning systems of the tailings dam.Under the field investigation,understanding the operation status of the tailings dam, with a series of field and laboratory experiments,the mechanical characteristics and parameters of tail mineral sand were determined. Combined field observed data of drilling with reasonable generalized and extended, establishment of calculation model meet the actual requirements,and give the appropriate parameters. Calculate the displacement,stress and hole pressure distribution,the variation trend of liquefaction area with the increase of vibration time of tailings dam under the influence of seepage and seismic loads natural state,then analysis the stability of the tailings dam in the three states. According to the actual situation of the tailings,establish monitoring system framework of the tailings pond consists of five parts which are data acquisition device of reservoir area, signal receiving and processing device,the reservoir area room and computer management system,signal transmission devices and enterprise command center monitoring system. Monitoring the displacement,the saturation line,the length of the dry beach,the reservoir water level,rainfall and reservoir video of the Zhangjiagou tailings dam,real-time keep track of dam change,analysis safety and health of tailings pond automatically,finding abnormality and possible hazardous conditions give an automatic early warning timely.Research results show that, the dam can guarantee its stability without external force, and no seepage failure, local seepage stability can be guaranteed. Under the seismic load, part position has liquefied instability risk. The installed monitoring system largely reduce the labor consumption, and is more economical in the long run, and the measurement accuracy is greatly improved, and provides an important guarantee for the security and stability of the tailings dam.
