Five-star Hotel Lobby Decoration Design Application Research

The design of decorative sculpture and the design of hotel lobby both are inter effected art manifestation. The design of hotel lobby renders the lobby space while the decorative sculpture builds the space theme. By some art language, decorative sculpture conveys what artist intend of the space theme to people passes by.This paper researched some couples of five-star hotel lobbies in Shanghai and Guangzhou with documentation retrieval method and field survey method, analyzed their decorative sculpture. With sample analysis method and integrated deductive method, it construed the lobbies’plane layout, functionality, space attributes, along with the shape, functionality and material of their decorative sculpture, which interpret the design of decorative sculpture of hotel lobby. Decorative sculpture characteristics and ways of applying it are concluded, after analysis and generation about the design element of hotel lobby decorative sculpture. The concluded four characteristics are:profound cultural implication, various expression, color match cohesion and apt material selection. To apply these characteristics into concept design, a luminous reference for further decorative sculpture design of five-star hotel lobby would set forward.
