Lace Pattern Application Research In The Modern Home Textiles

As a kind of ornamentation material applied in textiles, lace enjoys a long history. It was popular in Europe at first. With the innovation of textile technology, the improvement of textile tools and the popularity of computer printing, lace patterns have changed from warp&weft knit into independent patterns that could be printed by computer. In recent years, lace is recognized by more and more people. Not only apply forms and creation methods but also styles are diversified. In modern times, owning to the rise of Retro trend, designers’love for lace strengthens. And every designer has his unique understanding and explanation for lace. They do not use lace only as auxiliary material. On the contrary, concept of lace becomes the dominant design concept, using large hunks of fabric as textile fabrics. According to the rise of lace patterns as well as actual conditions of clothing and household textile applications, the thesis is going to research lace pattern styles and new application methods from the perspective of fabric. Lace has been presented before the public as an independent pattern. Its applications in textiles break through traditional design concept and aesthetic theory, presenting complicated styles and forms. This thesis focuses on lace’s application in household textiles.In my three-year design and study, I have collated and summarized problems in design techniques, design concepts and design process. I put emphasis on analyzing applications of lace pattern in household textiles design, researching lace pattern as an ornamentation pattern. In the end, I analyze and summarize the feasibility of realize those patterns. In the analysis process, I put my works into it.
