With the popular of DCT shifting mechanism, the solenoid valve requirement of DCThydraulic control module function also increases rapidly. The assembly of this kind ofsolenoid valve is so difficult that this solenoid valve is mainly on imports in our country.The independent design of the new solenoid valve assembly line has become the key pointin the research field.With the rapid economic development, a single type of product assembly line hasbeen unable to meet the rapidly changing market demand. Flexible assembly line graduallyhas been widely used which can produce many kinds of products based on the order.Research on flexible assembly line is growing, but most of the researches focus on loadbalancing and scheduling order of mixed-model assembly line. But few of people studymulti-model assembly line which accounts for a large proportion of the actual production.This paper uses the solenoid valve assembly line which is multi-model assembly as anexample, focus on five aspects design for flexible assembly line. The first one is the designof assembly line layout. The second one is using heuristic method(W.B.Helgeson-D.P.Birnie) to balance the load of assembly line.The third one is to designreasonable buffer by combining mathematical method and simulation method, to overcomethe drawbacks of using them alone in the design of assembly line buffer. Use simulationsoftware eM-Plant to find flexible assembly line bottleneck station. According to therelationship between the availability of assembly line and buffer capacity, the minimumbuffer capacity which meets production needs is calculated. The fourth one uses simulationsoftware eM-Plant to model and simulate the solenoid valve assembly line, analyzes itsbottlenecks and find out the bottleneck stations. Then the rationality of the buffer design is verified and the load balance of each station is investigated. Finally the assembly lineproductivity whether meets the requirements of customers or not is checked. The lastone,according to the assembly arrangement problems of multi-model assembly line, themathematical model is established which regards on the minimum process time as theobjective function. Assembly sequence is optimized by using improved genetic algorithm.It is proved that improved genetic algorithm is more effective for the solution of assemblyarrangement of various products by comparing the improved genetic algorithm andstandard genetic algorithm. Then the optimal solution of assembly arrangement of variousproducts is gotten on the MATLAB7.0. Compared with the company, this method savesprocessing time.The solenoid valve assembly line of this article has been started production. In theactual production, it is verified that the design and simulation of this article is available.
