Due to its designing difficulty and highly-required, flexible automated assembly equipment are rarely introduced into multi-station assembling lines. Ceramic cartridges are widely used as sanitary product. Due to no industry standards for ceramic cartridges, dimensions can be reset according to customer requirements. Moreover, with a massive market demand for cartridges with various sizes, assembling lines which dedicating to a specific product size are no longer meet enterprises’ requirements. This paper research on flexible automated assembly line for "Q15" series ceramic cartridges based on the requirement from a local company and the theory of automatic assembly line. The equipment can cover up to 5 models of ceramic cartridges. The main work of this thesis is as follows:1. Determine the organization and layout of the flexible automated assembly line and arrange the stations for the product planning through careful thought of operation and product requirements.2. Design flexible stations. According to "Q15RAT90-IN" ceramic cartridge automatic assembly line operation, analyze key stations and adjust corresponding processes to reduce the running time. And then optimize the structure of the core actions.3. After completing the basic structure design of the flexible automated assembly line, analyze the operation of assembly line and its defects by using fault tree analyzing method to find out the weaknesses and failures on the part of the structure, and then suggested improvements are provided.4. Summarize the factors affecting the reliability of the flexible automated assembly line for ceramic cartridge when the prototype model is running smoothly.
