Calixarene is known for its peculiar and novel construction. Calixarenes are considered to be extremely useful for host-guest chemistry, molecular recognition, and nano materials. In rescent years, with the development of metal-organic-frameworks (MOFs), Calixarenes are regarded as good choice for macrocyclic receptor system. The mental complexes, which were formed by coordination of the polydentated ligands with different mental ions have intriguing variety of architectures and potential functional properties such as gas storage and delivery, carbon dioxide adsorption, water adsorption and others. On the other hand, the transition metal complexes of carboxylic acid have versatile coordination patterns to form diverse topological structures, which enabled them to show many potential applications in the investigation of metal-organic-frameworks. In this work we have successfully designed and synthesized a series of tetramethoxyresorcinarene polydentated carboxylic acids. We also studied the coordination properties of them to various transition metal ions and determine the single crystal structures of the obtained metal complexes and achieved a sereies of interesting results. 1. By functional modification of tetramethoxyresorcalixarene or resorcincalixarene, we have successfully prepared a set of polycarboxylic acid derivatives, ether-ester derivatives, pyridyl amide derivatives. Totally,26new functionalized resorcinarenes were obtained and fully characterization with spectroscopy such as IR, NMR. Three single crystal structures have been determined by X-diffraction method.2. By using two tetramethoxyresorcalixarene carboxylic acids as the polydentated ligands, the transition metal Sr2+, Zn2+, Ba2+, Cd2+complexes were prepared by hydrothermal method. The single crystal structures of four mental complexes were determined by X-ray diffraction. Furthermore, the fluorescence property, and thermogravimetric analyses of these metal complexes were investigated.3. Several new multicarboxylic acids were successfully synthesized by multisteps. These multicarboxylic acids were used as polydentated ligands to coordinate with trnasiiton metal ion. The metal Cd2+, Sr2+, Ba2+complese were obtained by hydrothermal method. Three metal complexes wee structurally determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction.
