With the progress of science and technology and the instrument continues to update andimprove the complexes have a lot of changes and improve in the breadth and depth than everbefore.Carboxylic acid ligands have been used to construct complexes because they have bettercoordination ability and diverse coordination. The special properties like optical, magnetic, molecular recognition, etc. of complex make it to be a good candidate for material science and lifescience. Nowadays some of these functional complexes have been successfully applied to thefield of materials science. In this study, three kinds of aromatic polycarboxylic acid ligands have been obtained througha series of organic reaction, such as oxidation、substitution and Suzuki coupling. These threeligands are (formyl)phenoxyl)methyl)benzoic acid(L1)、4,4’-bi(2,6-bipyridyl)benzoic acid(L2) and1,1’,3’,1"-ter-phenyl-4’,4",5-tricarboxylic acid (L3) respectively. Five new complexes have beensuccessfully synthesized from the ligands,2,2’-bipyridyl-4,4’,6,6’-tetra carboxylic acid andtransition metal ions by applying hydrothermal and solution method. complex1to4are obtainedby the hydrothermal, and the complexes5is synthesized by the solution method. Finally, thesynthesized complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, TG-DTA, X-ray moreover, the fluorescent and magnetic properties have also been studied. The complexes are listed as follows:(1)[Mn[C15H10O5](1)(2)[[Mn(C15H10O5)(C12H8N2)](2)(3)[Zn2(C14H4N2O16)·2H2O](3)(4)[Zn16(C168H88O59)](4)(5)[Cu3(C60H46N40O15)](5)The structure analysis indicate that the complexes are all2-D structure except for4、5(3-Dnetwork structure), the network structure of complex4is connected by the ligand and the Zn2+through coordination bond, however no obvious hydrogen bond has been detected. Among the five complexes only complex3have obvious hydrogen bond, while most of the rest of the complexesare formed by π-π stacking and coordination bond. Besides, the carboxyl coordination modes isvaried, include mono dentate ligand, bridge bidentate, chelating bidentate, tridentate coordinationmode. The complex3and4showed good property of fluorescence radiation, however, themechanism were different. The antiferromagnetism was detected in complex5.
