In our country, the proportion of heavy oil is becoming more and morebigger in the total of imported and domestic crude oil, which caused somequality degradation of the product, in recent years, the metallurgical industry hasbeen developed quickly, in order to save energy and improve the efficiency, amass of power graphite electrode (UHP)are used for electric furnace steelmaking,which increased demand for the needle coke,but the quality or quantity ofdomestic needle coke could not satisfy the manufacture requirement.Catalytic cracking decant oil can form needle coke which has little ash andcolloid and has removed solid particle through filtration. By this carbonizedexperiment researched the influence of temperature and pressure on product. Atthe same time, it could provide accurate data for future production.FCC slurry was extracted with furfuraldehyde, the aromatic hydrocarbonscontent of FCC were increased and colloid content was decreased then the rawmaterial can be used to produce the high-grade needle coke throughcarbonization reaction. Extraction experiment showed that the selectivity ofsolvent was affected by solvent–oil ratio and extraction temperature.Another method, the first step is vacuum distillation processing of feedstockand the next is centrifugation processing, the determination results show thearomatic hydrocarbons content increased, saturated hydrocarbons and colloidcontent reduced. The quality of needle coke improved. Added suitable celluloseto FCC slurry has a promoting effect on the needle coke structure.
