For the foundation of patent filed in 2006 by RIPP, "A method of raw material pretreatment for producing needle coke",3.5 million tons/year of heavy oilcatalytic cracking oil slurry pressure reduction unit at Sinopec Shanghai petrochemical co.,LTD has been carried out the adaptive transformation. The purpose is to get the ideal raw material for producing needle coke through fractionation and cutting, meanwhile to accumulate date for new needle coke raw material pretreatment device.In this paper, the specific reform measures are introduced in detail, and a series of problems which obstacts to meet the design expectations are analyzed. We simulate the process of the transformation through Aspen Hysys process simulation software, and use Cuptower software to check the hydraulic properties of the tower. Through comparison and analysis, we put forward the improvement scheme of optimization. Through reforming and optimizing, the main process parameters are adjusted to a suitable location, meanwhile we produced the needle coke raw material which meet the design requirements.Through the comparison of the actual running data and simulation data, the accuracy and the guiding significance of the process simulation are proved.
