The method of preparing concentrated polymer solution with clean water and dilutingwith sewage can save a lot of precious water resources, and this way has been utilized inpolymer flooding. However there are divalent metal ions in sewage that can reduce polymersolution viscosity and affect the recovery ratio seriously. Therefore it is very important to findout the complexing agents that can reduce these ions.The effects of mass concentration, metal ions’ content to Partially HydrolyzedPolyacrylamide(HPAM) were studied. Temperature, salinity, calcium and magnesium ionconcentration, pH value’s effects to HPAM, Sulphonated Polyacrylamide(SPAM), differentdegree of Hydrolysis Polyacrylamide(5%LHPAM,10%LHPAM,15%LHPAM) solutionviscosity. Three kinds of methods were used to determine the chelating capacity ofcomplexing agents, compared their accuracy, and the best way was proposed. Five kinds ofcomplexing agents’enhancing viscosity performance were investigated in HPAM, SPAM,5%LHPAM,10%LHPAM and15%LHPAM solution. Selected better agents performed complexmixed experiments, determined the best agents’proportion. The results showed:(1)The highermass concentration and the lower metal ions’ content, the higher HPAM solution viscosity;(2)The same concentration of alkaline earth metal ions’ effects to HPAM solution viscosityfrom large to little is Mg2+> Ca2+> Sr2+> Ba2+; Fe2+affect the viscosity seriously, when itscontent is2mg/L, the viscosity loss rate is more than50%;(3)The higher temperature,salinity, calcium and magnesium ion concentration, the lower polymer solution viscosity; ithas high viscosity in weak base solution;(4)Metal Indicator Titration can determine the endpoint easily, cost low, and results are accurate;(5)When HPAM was2000mg/L, total salinitywas32968mg/L, Ca2+was700mg/L, Mg2+was175mg/L, observed temperature was80℃,the solution had the largest viscosity that ATMP and K2C2O4respectively complex thequantity of metal ion was0.5and0.5of the total ion, the viscosity of HPAM solution evenadded49%; and the viscosity of SPAM solution added42%at the same situation.
