Current interest has been focused on the sila-cyclopentadiene ring system.Orbital interactions between the silicon σ*orbital and π*orbital of the butadiene unitlowers the LUMO energy level. What is more important is that the high electronmobilities, high photoluminescence quantum yields, and improved ambient stabilityover its carbon counterparts making it possible to utilize silole-containing compoundsas novel functional materials. On the other hand, furan appears as appealing buildingblocks for the tailoring of conjugated materials since they possess electronicproperties that markedly differ from those of thiophene. For example, the aromaticcharacter of furan is less pronounced than in thiophene, resulting in an increasedexocyclic conjugation ability of their π-systems. In this paper, we introduce silole intothe benzofuran system and synthesis a series of benzofuran-fused silole derivatives.Performance tests show that these compounds exhibit bright emission with highquantum yields, high thermal stablility, and suitable redox potential. These propertymeet the requirement of OLED materials very well. Introducing silicon into thedibenzofuran system offers new method and material for the OLED study.
