Nano materials with optical, electrical, magnetic, catalytic and antibacterialproperties have gained more and more extensive attention with the development ofscience and technology. However, their useful properties decrease with the particlesize’s reduction giving rise to the enlargement, which resulting in the increasedtendency for agglomeration, of surface energy. Therefore, small organic molecules, polymers and surfactants as templates and stabilizers are necessary for the preparationof silver nano material. With the multifunctional hyperbranched polyester designed inthis work as templates and protective agents, hyperbranched polyester/silver andhyperbranched polyester/silver bromide nano materials were prepared, andhyperbranched polyester/silver was further combined with carbon nanotube forobtaining carbon nanotube/silver composites in this thesis. The antibacterial andcatalytic properties of these composites were studied thoroughly. Details are asfollows:1. When pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA) and trimethylolpropane were used asA2and B3monomer respectively, multifunctional hyperbranched polyester wassynthesized by one pot synthtic method under mild conditions (atmospheric pressure,70℃and without catalyst) which were optimized meticulously. The preliminarycharacterization of hyperbranched polyester above was completed as well.2. The as-prepared polyesters were used as templates and protective agents toobtain water-dispersible hyperbranched polyester/silver and hyperbranchedpolyester/silver bromide nano materials. The polyester/silver was further combinedwith carbon nanotube for obtaining carbon nanotube/silver composites. The nanocomposites were characterized with transmission electron microscope (TEM) andultraviolet spectrum. The effects of reaction conditions on the particle size of silverand silver bromide and water dispersion stability were also explored preliminary.3. The as-prepared nano materials were conducted. The minimum inhibitoryconcentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) of these nanomaterials against staphylococcus aureus, escherichia coli and pseudomonas aeruginosa were detected, as well as the time-sterilizing curve of these nano materials.Experimental results showed excellent antibacterial effect of nano materials preparedabove.4. Catalytic properties of carbon nanotube/silver nano composite was studied, the results demonstrated remarkable catalytic performance of this composite ontransforming p-nitrophenol into p-aminophenol.
