Mineral resources are limited and non-renewable extremely precious resources, So how to use the resources rationally and efficiently is a significant mission which every mining worker should be faced with. The determination of the cutoff grade is an especially critical decision problem in the process of mineral development, which is directly affect the ore reserves, the mine production scale, the final mining realm, equipment selection and mine production life, etc. Optimizing the cutoff grade index rationally is significant for economy and society in the aspects of making full use of mineral resources, safeguarding enterprise profit, increasing reserves and extending the mine service life, etc.In this paper, the various factors that influence the mining cutoff grade have been detailedly analyzed and researched by combining the mathematical method with the computer technology. Using the Monte Carlo simulation, a new method to optimize the cutoff grade of poly-metallic production mine is put forward, the mathematical model related to the cutoff grade optimization is established, the mine technical and economic indicators and cost database are created, a set of dynamic optimization management software for the cutoff grade of poly-metallic associated with copper mine is developed, so as to provide useful help for the management and the optimization of the cutoff grade of multiple metal production mine.According to researches, some theoretical and practical achievements have been achieved:1. On the basis of three conditions-new mines, producing mines and local ore-bodies, eight calculation models used to realize the cutoff grade optimization have been established including geological reserves model, production capacity model, investment model, cost model, profit model, tax and depreciation model, the economic target model and the estimation of the mineral product price model; a specific decision scheme that whether the low grade local ore should be recycle or not is proposed.2. According to the present situation that the optimization of mining index is only considered from a single or a few factors without the overall decision variables, this paper detailedly analyzes the various factors which influence the mining cutoff grade and production input variables, proposes a new method to optimize the cutoff grade by using the Monte Carlo simulation and expounds the concrete ixnmplementation process.3. For poly-metallic associated ore deposit, if the delineation of ore bodies only considers one particular element as the evaluation objects, it would generate a great waste of resources inevitably, thus a new method to determine the cutoff grade of ore by utilizing the concept of equivalent grade is put forward, and the conversion method and the formula of equivalent grade have been studied.4. Using the software of SQL Server2008database and.NET4.0, a database about the mining cost, technical and economic indexes of Chengmen mountain copper mine is built. The database gives much help to store, query, utilize, and integrate the mining cost information and technical and economic index, thus the database makes the management of mine more convenience and provides a platform and basic data for dynamic optimizing of the cutoff grade of ore.5. A powerful cutoff grade dynamic optimization program has been developed using.NET4.0programming software, which contains various calculation models that affect the determination of the cutoff grade, and this program owns the advantages of having various and comprehensive data, clear logic of measuring the process, simple operation etc. The cutoff grade calculated by this program owns very high practical value, which is helpful to save the cost and human resources significantly.6. The online edition of "Cutoff grade of poly-metallic copper mine dynamic optimization management system" software is created by combining the technical and economic index and cost data management with the cutoff grade calculate. It can be operated online only to set up a server on the Internet. It sets up a reliable resource sharing management platform for the user unit and group company, and the users can manage the technical and economic indexes and mining cost and optimize the cutoff grade calculation more conveniently and efficiently.
