With the continuous development of social economy and the continuousimprovement of people’s living standards, water pollution has became one of the mostimportant environmental issues in the world. Villages and small towns in China havelacked the ability to monitor water bodies, and havn’t had enough theoretical bases toscreen pollution characteristics of water bodies. Now, taking a series of scientificmeans to screen water contamination of villages and small towns is very important.Aquaculture water and receiving water body in qiaokou town, Changsha isselected as research water bodies. Through the period of investigation and analysis,three important conclusions can be obtained by this study:(1) Eleven indices of water quality(Temperature、pH、SS、Conductivity、TN、Ammonia、Nitrate nitrogen、Nitrite、DO、COD、TP) is selected as a characteristicsof water quality index system, and aquaculture water and receiving water body wascontinuous monitored for some time. According to the monitoring date, between DOand pH satisfy mathematical model of pH14lg (10ΔCDO10/10, andthe correspond linear models are established between DO and TN、ammonia、nitratenitrogen、TP. Research finalize DO and TN to represent the characteristic index ofother indications.(2)According to actual monitoring and management level in Qiaokou town, thelowest point of dissolved oxygen was found by analyzing data. The monitoring pointsof DO is set at d=120m for the receiving water body, and The monitoring points ofDO is set at the sampling point one and sampling point five for aquaculture waterbody. The monitoring points of TN is set at d=120m for the receiving water body, butThe monitoring points of TN must be researched more further for aquaculture waterbody. Variations of pH、Ammonia、Nitrate nitrogen、Nitrite、COD、TP are found byobserving the changes of the DO and TN.(3)To make a comprehensive evaluation of safety, Accidental contamination ofaquaculture water and receiving water body have been investigated. DO and TN notonly reflect changes of other indices in the characteristic index system, but also havecapabilities to forecast and monitor sudden water pollution situation.
