Thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer (TPU) is a kind of carbamate as hardsegment and polyols as soft segment, many block and linear, plasticized by heating,and soluble in solvent. Thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer, because of its excellentmechanical properties, physical properties and chemical properties, has very wideapplication in the modern production and life. Traditional TPU is used toluenediisocyanate (TDI) as raw materials, TPU based TDI though has excellentcomprehensive performance, but TDI is toxic, TPU based TDI also has benzene ringstructure, make its application has limitations. Such as TPU based TDI benzene ringstructure, under the irradiation of ultraviolet light easy yellowing, affect theperformance of the material and beautiful. Applied to the human body, the existence ofthe benzene ring will have the risk of cancer. This article is from two angles to studythe performance of thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer.TPU based TDI and TPU based isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI), viaing FT-IR,GPC, Two n-butyl amine titration method, melting point apparatus, micro controlelectronic universal testing machine, Shaw rubber hardness tester, to analysis variousperformance, the results showed that the activity of TDI is higher than IPDI; Whenhard segment content is42%, Rt is1.04, both TPUs can reach high molecular weight,and hydroxyl sealing sides, the comprehensive performance is the optimal; TPU basedTDI (25.54Mpa) is stronger than with TPU based IPDI(18.7Mpa), and elongation atbreak of the overall weaker than the latter; Melting temperature, the hardness of theformer is much higher than the latter. Different polymer glycol TPU based IPDI, themechanical performance contrast: PEA>PBA>PMTEG.Because mechanics performance of TPU based IPDI is a bit poor, and catalystdibutyltin dilaurate is a safety hazard. In this thesis, TPU is compounded by1,2-cyclohexanol diol (CHD) as chain extender and BiCAT8118as catalyst. Viaing FT-IR,GPC, Two n-butyl amine titration method, micro control electronic universal testingmachine, Shaw rubber hardness tester, to analysis various performance. The resultsshow that the activation energy of BDO and CHD were39.42and69.57kJ/mol,reactivity of CHD is much smaller than BDO; BiCAT@8118used as catalysts, theamount of need is five times than the BDO as chain extender; Along with the increaseof hard segment content, TPU hardness increase is very obvious; As the increase oftwo kinds TPU’s hard segment content, the tensile strength increased, but elongation at break decreased. Under the same hard segment content, CHD extender chain of TPUhardness is higher than of BDO as chain extender. CHD extender chain of TPU tensilestrength (18.7MPa) higher than BDO as chain extender (12.19MPa), but theelongation at break is lower the overall.
