Organic UV filters is one kind of pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) which has absorbing ultraviolet radiation function. As the consume of sunscreen cream and the volume of addition are increasing, the harm that these organic UV filters released into environment will impact environment and organism arouse people’s attention. Studies have showed that some UV filters in common use homosalate (HMS), ethylhexylmethoxycinnamate (EHMC), benzophenone-3(BP-3),4-methylbenzylidene camphor (4-MBC) have impact on aquatic organism and mammal endocrine system. In this paper, A method for determination of five representative organic UV filters:Octocrylene (OC), HMS, EHMC, BP-3and4-MBC in water was investigated. The method was based on derivatization, solid phase extraction (SPE), followed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) determination. Then, the occurrence, removal rate of main treatment process in five full-scale wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) were studied.Using Bis(trimethylsilyl)trifluoroacetamide (BSTFA) as the reagent of silanization, at100℃for100min hydroxyl of HMS、BP-3were successfully derivatizated and there were no noumenon residual. Derivative products of HMS and BP-3were stable within24h, and would decompose within48h. The variables involved in SPE procedure were studied. Good recoveries of target UV filters were80.21%~95.19%were obtained by the following three conditions:the pH value of water samples was adjusted to3-5, Oasis HLB cartridges were employed and ethyl acetate:dichloromethane(1:1, v:v) was used as eluting solvent. The limits of detection (LOD) and the limits of quantification (LOQ) for five targets UV filters in water samples were0.5-1.2ng/L and1.4-4.0ng/L, respectively. Recoveries of spiked water samples were87.85-102.34%, respectively. Good repeatability and reproducibility were achieved with relative standard deviations (RSD, m=3)<5%for all target compounds in water samples.Water sample collected from WWTPs for testing, the results showed that five kinds of organic UV filters were all detected in the influent and outfluent, the detection rate was100%. Concentration of five target compounds HMS, EHMC, BP-3,4-MBC and OC were327.14~384.92ng/L、1827.36~2001.34ng/L106.3~129.91ng/L、389.67~458.34ng/L and341.75~363.93ng/L in each WWTPs influent, respectively;48.51~63.78ng/L、114.05~174.99ng/L、42.28~53.57ng/L、63.34~54.98ng/L and51.53-61.18ng/L in each WWTPs enfluent, respectively. Fourth WWTP employ ICEAS as secondary biochemistry treatment owned best removal rate were86.3%~53.6%in five WWTPs; but forth WWTP empoly ozone disinfection as advanced treatment owned worse removal rate. Except forth WWTP, other WWTPs empoly UV disinfection as advanced treatment owned better removal rate were76.8%~28.4%, total removal rates of Five WWTPs for target compounds were94.0%~58.76%. Although total removal rates indicated that these five WWTPs could eliminate the target UV filters effectively, concentration of five UV filters in each WWTPs enfluence still high enough to be risky for the downstream environment if these UV filters eliminate to environment with enfluence.
