Recently, more and more attention has focused on the the designing andconstructing the metal-organic coordination polymers with novel topologies or intriguingarchitectures, due to their potential applications in many fields, such as gas adsorptionand separation, drug delivery, magnetic materials, fluorescent probe, catalysis, DNAcleavage and so on. In this process, people found that organic carboxylic acid ligandswith flexible and changeable structures have versatile advantages due to their strongbinding abilities and various coordination modes which make them become the firstchoice for many scientists in building metal organic frameworks. In this paper, we use2,2’-dithiophene-5,5’-dicarboxylic acid and4,4’-sulfonyldibenzonic acid ligands withtransition metal or rare earth metals in the solvent thermal conditions, successfullysynthesized a series of metal-organic coordination polymers with new structures. Thisarticle is divided into four chapters.In the first chapter, we introduced the basic conception of coordination polymer, theresearch progress of the coordination polymers that based on carboxylate ligands as wellas the significance and the progress made in this topic.In the second chapter, two metal-organic coordination polymers,[Cd1.5(btdc)1.5(DMF)(EtOH)]·H2O·EtOH (1), Eu2(btdc)3(H2O)2(2) have beensuccessfully constructed by2,2’-dithiophene-5,5’-dicarboxylic acid (H2btdc).1is a2Dlayer with large pores which results from [Cd3(COO)6] secondary building units linkedby btdc ligands.1shows good fluorescence property.2features a3D porous coordinationpolymer constructed by two different1D chains linked by btdc ligands.In the third chapter, three metal-organic coordination polymers,[Gd(sfdb)(NO3)(DMF)2]·2H2O (3),[Eu(sfdb)(NO3)(DMF)2]·3H2O (4),Ce(sfdb)(NO3)(DMF)3(5) have been constructed by4,4’-sulfonyldibenzonic acid ligandsand different lanthanide metal ions under different solvothermal conditions. Thestructures of three coordination polymers are1D chains which could constructthree-dimensional supramolecular assembly with H-bonds.In the conclusion, we have summarized the structures of five metal-organic frameworks. The research provided a new route for design and synthesis of newfunctional polymers with other carboxylate ligands.
