For a long time, drilling positioning has been a special measurement tasks, because it is characterized by a large dispersion, and advanced control point is difficult to cover.As well as the limitation of-sight conditions, these bring great difficulties in control work. Conventional way to measure mapping is difficult to solve the above problems, often in order to introduce a hole root control, which would take a lot of time and consume a lot of human resources, resulting in increased management costs, but also increases the security risk underground.For the current situation, it proposes a downhole positioning system program based on FOG (Fiber Optic Gyroscope) in this paper. Compared with the traditional mechanical gyroscope, FOG has many advantages, such as high sensitivity, short start-up time, wide dynamic range, low cost, light weight and long life. So the FOG-based positioning program has the incomparable advantages to previous positioning program. With the development of FOG technology, the positioning program based on FOG is bound to be more and more applications.First, it introduces the drilling positioning technology research status at domestic and abroad and the commonly used positioning system solutions in this paper. Second, it puts forward several FOG-based positioning programs, based on the detailed introduction the working and detection principle of FOG And it has made the detailed description and comparison of the several program, to determine the position of a single FOG symmetrical two positions positioning program.Meanwhile for the base disturbance affecting the positioning system accuracy. On the basis of ensuring the system positioning accuracy, from the perspective of ease of project implementation,it proposes a single FOG symmetrical measurement positioning algorithm based on kalman filter and completed the design of the single FOG symmetrical positioning system kalman filter. Then it selects the main control chip of the drilling positioning system and establishs system hardware structure which includes selection of FOG, precision mechanical design turntable design, signal acquisition and data processing circuits design, power modules design, and JTAG emulator interface circuit design.. In the hardware design of the system, it used a STM32F103RB as the main controller. On the basis of the hardware system design is completed. it finishs the software system design. the experimental study to verify the reliability of the proposed scheme. Finally, it uses experimental study to verify the feasibility of the positioning system.
