Geological structures not only determine the occurrence condition of the coal but also determine the mining condition of coal bed. This paper estimated the complex degree of the geological structures and divided the structures of different complex degrees for different coal beds. The inversion of geological evolution was done by combining the current structural features and the tectonic movements the whole minefield had been experienced meanwhile the research on gas occurrence state influenced by the geological structures was also been studied. The results were as follows:1. There were lots of faults and the count of normal faults was a little more than which of the reverse faults. The proportion of the normal and reverse faults was56%and44%. The faults proportion was43.7%whose strike was NE or NNE. The fold was few and there were a few drag folds only in the dislocation position of the faults.2. The Xutuan coal mine was reformed though five different geological periods such as the Indo Chinese epoch, early Yanshan period, late Yanshan period, early Xishan period and the late Xishan period. The current structures pattern was formed by the superposition and influence of the above five structures periods.3. The complex degree of32coal was simple to medium complex and the complex degree of82coal was complex.4. We concluded that the gas distribution was not only controlled by the buried depth of coal bed but also by geological structures.
