Based on the diversified development of a short electric arc processing technology andfurther in-depth study of its processing mechanism, it’s imminent to develop a short electricarc three-dimensional CNC milling device, also provided technical support to promote the useof the latter in practice, to lay a foundation of diversification&marketization for shortelectric arc processing technology. This paper describes the development of the mechanicalsystem of short electric arc three-dimensional CNC milling device, modal analysis on thecathode components and first exploration on its milling methods. The following is a detailedwork content of this thesis:By analyzing the characteristics of short electric arc discharge machining process, theoverall layout of the short electric arc three-dimensional CNC milling device usedconventional CNC milling machine vertical spindle lifting style, and key components forstructural design, verification, etc.Through analysis software ANSYS Workbench to have modal matching analysis on basiccomponents of cathode component, which attached to short electric arc three-dimensionalCNC milling device. By analyzing the mode shape figure, it’s designed to enhance thestiffness of the weak links in the assembly portion of the cathode components, and finally itspre1~4modal shape figure show that the optimized structure in line with the characteristic ofshort electric arc discharge machining.We had made a brief introduction for the electrical system of short electric arcthree-dimensional CNC milling device. According to the control requirements for electricalsystem defined the overall scheme of the electrical system of three-dimensional CNC millingdevice. And narrated electrical schematic of the work circuit and control circuit for theelectrical system.Based on this device, we used orthogonal experimental method to design orthogonalarray which including electrical parameters during processing (electrical parameters includes voltage, frequency, duty ratio).After the measurement of work piece surface roughness whichis processed, we obtained an optimum combination of electrical parameters. It provides somebasis for in-depth study of the post processing methods. We made the overall electrical layoutfor electric control cabinet on the basis of it. After all work be ready, we had carried outhardware debugging and software testing of the whole machine.
