Imine and late transition metal catalyst also has potential in polyethylene catalystresearch in recent years. The variety of substituent group, the different electroniccharacteristic and steric hindrance of the interaction of substituent with metal center couldbring special properties of catalyst. The single active center make it possible to design themolecular weitght, branch, and molecular structure of the polythene. Besides the high activity inethylene homopolymerization, the catalyst demonstrate high heeroatomic tolerance in the copolymerizationof ethylene with polar monomers, which bring novel polymer product. We focus on the the synthesis of some kinds of mono-imine ligands and diimine ligandswith the structure of3,5-di-tert-butyl-ortho-quinone, the coordination of the ligands withmetals to form the corresponding complexes, catalytic performance of the complexes inethylene oligomerization, and the analyze of the polymerizate. It was found that, the reaction of3,5-di-tert-butyl-ortho-quinone which is oxidized by thecorresponding quinine with anilines or amine can form the mono-imine ligands and diimineligands. Part of these ligands react with amines and iron/nickel salts can form catalysts thatcan be used in ethylene oligomerization. Then we inspect the catalyst activenessin in differentresponse condition to get the best reaction temperature, the Al/Ni and cocatalyst. And inspectthe distribution of the molecular weight of the polymerization product with gaschromatography.
