Jeffamine polyether amine is a kind of polymeric surfactants with Polyoxyethylene-Polyoxypropylene-Polyoxyethylene(PPO-PEO-PPO) block copolymer. It is known as amino-teminated polyoxypropylene because it is amino-terminated at both ends or one end of the polyether backbone.Environment-friendly, none toxic, inexpensive, Biodegradable. It’s characteristics such as, environment-friendly, none toxic, inexpensiveand biodegradablility attracts much attentions.Fewer reports about the applications of polyether amine Jeffamine ED2003on domestic and international, because the molar ratio of EO/PO is relatively high in the molecular, which leading to good water solubility.Micelles can not be formed in aqueous solution, which limiting its many applications.Herein, Jeffamine ED2003is modified by chemical grafting different lengths of the alkyl chains, in order to increase it’s hydrophobicity which makes it easier on folding the unit of EO to form micelles in aqueous solution.A series of novel polymeric surfactants polyether amides (Jeffamine ED2003-fan) are synthesized. The main results are as follows:1.A novel polymeric surfactants named Jeffamine ED2003-fa18are synthesized by graftting stearic acid at both ends of Jeffamine ED2003using direct and indirect methods. The best conditions are:the molar ratio of Jeffamine ED2003with stearic acid is1.0:2.1, temperature is170℃, reaction time is8h,which are found by orthogonal experiment.2.Another two novel polymeric surfactants named Jeffamine ED2003-fa14and Jeffamine ED2003-fa10are synthesized by grafting Myristic acid and Capric acid at both ends of Jeffamine3. The structure of the products was characterized by IR,1H-NMR and Elemental analysis. The results show that Jeffamine ED2003-fan was successfully synthesized with high purity. The product the theoretical and calculated values of the product are matched with the expected structure.4. Then the surface tension y and the critical micelle concentration values (cmc) of ED2003-fa18, ED2003-fa14and ED2003-fa10are measured.Compared with Jeffamine ED2003, new surfactants having good surface tension and a relatively lower cmc value. The longer alkyl chain, the lower the value of the cmc of the surfactant.5.Jeffamine ED2003-fa18used as the template for the synthesis of mesoporous materials is studied preliminary. No mesopore ordering has been obtained with Jeffamine ED2003. However, the ability of the modified Jeffamine ED2003-fa18are investigated to be used for the preparation of ordered mesoporous materials.
