Emulsion explosive is a special water-in-oil emulsified system, which has many advantages such as excellent blasting and water-resistance performance, wide material sources, simple technology, high security, low cost, little pollution to environment, low concentration of blasting fumes. At present, with the advancement of automated production technology, liquid ammonium nitrate is directly used as raw material of water phase, but sometimes it would cause water phase instability because its concentration, pH value, impurity content were not always the same. If water phase is not stability, the performance of the emulsion explosive would be greatly affected.On the foundation of adsorbing the previous research results, the impacts of water content on emulsion explosive’s thermal stability and storage stability were explored by controlling variables, and the best water content for emulsion explosive was found out. In this article, the scope of liquid ammonium nitrate’s pH was measured, and the methods for adjusting pH was determined, in addition the variables in the experiment was controlled. The impacts of pH value on emulsion explosive’s detonation velocity and compression were studied and then the optimal pH value of liquid ammonium nitrate was determined. The results show that, when the water content was11%~12%, the thermal stability and storage stability of emulsion explosive is best; the optimal liquid ammonium nitrate’s pH of1#rock emulsion explosive ranges from4.4%to6.0%; the optimal liquid ammonium nitrate’s pH of3#permissible emulsion explosive for coal-mine ranges from3.0%to4.5%; when the liquid ammonium nitrate’s pH in the optimal range, the emulsion explosive’s detonation velocity and compression is best. These results provide references for water phase’s optimization of emulsion explosive.
