Cardanol what is extracted from cashew nut shell liquid is a kind of natural、phenolics, it can produce a variety of chemical reactions due to its structurecontaining many kinds of active groups:phenol hydroxyl、aliphatic unsaturatedcarbon-carbon double bonds and so on. As a kind of renewable resource, cardanol ismainly used in coating、friction material、adhesive、polymer additives and so oninsteading of a variety of fossil raw materials. In this paper, the main researchcontents as follows:Under the catalysis of benzyl triethyl ammonium chloride(BTAC), cardanolglycidyl ethe(rCGE)was synthesized from natural cardanol and epoxy chloropropane,its epoxy value was measured by hydrochloric acid-acetone method and structure wascharacterized by infrared spectrometer. Researched the effects of epoxychloropropane、sodium hydroxide、catalyst、open loop temperature、open loop time、close-loop temperature and close-loop time on the epoxy value of CGE. Throughorthogonal experiment and single factor experiment, the suitable reaction conditionsof CGE were determined:The mass of BTAC is2%of cardanol, n(cardanol):n(epoxychloropropane):n(NaOH)=1:5:1.2、open loop temperature80℃、open loop time4h、close-loop temperature60℃and close-loop time3h. At above conditions, the epoxyvalue of CGE was0.277mol/100g and the yield was85.6%.Solid acid as catalyst, natural cardanol as main raw material, hydrogen peroxideand glacial acetic acid as oxidant, the double-bonds of cardanol side chain wereoxidized into epoxy group, meta-15epoxy alkyl phenolic (M-15EAP) wassynthesized, its epoxy value was measured by hydrochloric acid-acetone method andstructure was characterized by infrared spectrometer. Researched the effects of glacialacetic acid、hydrogen peroxide、catalyst、toluene、reaction temperature and reactiontime on the epoxy value of M-15EAP. Through single factor experiment, the suitablereaction conditions of M-15EAP were determined:The mass of solid acid is50%ofcardanol, n(cardanol):n(glacial acetic acid):n(hydrogen peroxide)=1:1.5:3, m(cardanol):m(toluene)=1:2,reaction temperature60℃, reaction time is6h. At above conditions, the epoxy valueof M-15EAP was0.358mol/100g and the yield was88.5%. Solid acid as catalyst, the double-bonds of CGE side chain were oxidized intoepoxy group, poly-epoxy group cardanol glycidyl ether (PEGCGE) was synthesized,its epoxy value was measured by hydrochloric acid-acetone method and structure wascharacterized by infrared spectrometer. Researched the effects of glacial acetic acid、hydrogen peroxide、catalyst、toluene、reaction temperature and reaction time on theepoxy value of PEGCGE. Through single factor experiment and orthogonalexperiment, the suitable synthetic conditions of PEGCGE were determined:The massof solid acid is50%of cardanol, n(cardanol):n(glacial acetic acid):n(hydrogen peroxide)=1:1.5:2.5,m(cardanol):m(toluene)=1:3, reaction temperature60℃,reaction time is5h. At thesuitable synthetic conditions, the epoxy value of PEGCGE was0.601mol/100g andthe yield was89.2%.In this paper,the synthetic method of PEGCGE is simple and economic, we usedit for heat stabilizer in chlorinated paraffin for the first time.The study on theepoxidation of double bonds in cardanol glycidyl ether side chain is rarely reported athome and abroad. The study opens a new route for the application of cardanol andprovides a theoretical basis and data support for subsequent production technology ofcardanol glycidyl ether.
