With the increasing awareness of environmental protection,the renewable bio-base materials from biomass resources have attracted people's attention.Furan methyl glycidyl ether(FGE),also known as furfuryl glycidyl ether,can be synthesized from bio-based furfuryl alcohol and bio-based epichlorohydrin,thus having great application prospect and economic benefits.However,in fact,the application of FGE has not been promoted.The key reason is that the raw material cost and preparation costcost is relatively high,and the theoretical reserves of its application are inadequate.Based on this,a green synthetic route was designed on the basis of previous work.And then the chemical products were used as the reactive diluent of epoxy resin,surface modifier of graphene oxide and corrosion inhibitor of carbon steel,respectively.The changes in viscosity,thermal properties,mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of epoxy resin with FGE,the effect of FGE on graphene oxide and the inhibition effect and mechanism of FGE were discussed respectively.The main results are as follows:(1)The effects of the type of catalyst,the amount of the catalyst and the ratio of raw materials on the synthesis of FGE were studied.The best synthetic route was determined,that is,bio-based furfuryl alcohol and epichlorohydrin were raw material,and 50%NaOH solution and tetrabutylammonium hydrogen sulfate were catalyst,and water was reaction solvent,and reaction time is 3.5 h,and reaction temperature is not more than 10 ?.The products were characterized by FT-IR and 1H NMR.The results showed that the product was highly purified FGE with a yield of about 82%.(2)FGE was used as the reactive diluent of epoxy resin.The effects of FGE content on the viscosity of epoxy resin,the thermal properties of epoxy system,the mechanical properties and the anticorrosion properties of epoxy coating were studied.The mechanism of FGE was studied by SEM.The results showed that when the content of FGE was more than 10 wt.%,the viscosity of epoxy resin is reduced to 4120 mPa s,and meets the requirements of use.With the increase of FGE content,the thermal properties of the cured epoxy resin decreased because the mono ring oxygen group of FGE resulted in the reduction of the crosslink density of the solidified substance.However,the mechanical properties of the epoxy coating,especially the adhesion and impact resistance,were improved,and the corrosion resistancehave not been changed significantly.This is because the O atoms of the furan ring can form a coordination bond with the metal and improve the adhesion and film formation.(3)FGE was used as a surface modifier for graphene oxide,and then the modified GO was added into epoxy resin to prepare epoxy composite.The effects of modified GO on the thermal and mechanical properties of the composites were studied.The mechanism of FGE on GO and the strengthening mechanism of modified GO on epoxy composites were also studied.The results showed that FGE did react with the surface of graphene oxide.With the increase of the content of the modified GO,the thermal and mechanical properties of the epoxy composites were enhanced,and this trend was not found in the unmodified graphene oxide-epoxy composites.This is because the FGE's furan ring can improve the compatibility between the graphene oxide and the matrix and improve the dispersibility of the 2-D lamellar layer in the resin matrix.(4)FGE was added to the acid solution as a corrosion inhibitor of carbon steel.The corrosion inhibition effect and mechanism of FGE were studied by electrochemical experiment,static weight loss test and SEM.The results showed that FGE was a good corrosion inhibitor,and the inhibition efficiency of FGE was the highest when the concentration was 75 mg·L-1.The adsorption model of FGE conforms to the Langmuir adsorption model.It is a kind of mixed adsorption which has physical electrostatic adsorption and chemical adsorption.FGE forms a metal chelate or polymer macromolecule on the metal surface to form a spatial network barrier structure,which hinders the attack of water molecules and chloride ions and plays a role in corrosion inhibition.
