In recent years, the molecular aggregates constructed by carboxylic acid ligands and metal ions, have become a general interest in material chemistry, supramolecular chemistry and coordination chemistry owing to their potential applications in many fields. Yet, designing and selecting the ligands is of critical importance for constructing a new functional coordination complex. In this thesis, we choose tartaric acid (H2Tar) and5-((4-carboxylphenyl)oxy)isophthalic acid (H3L) as original ligands, and obtained a series of1D,2D and3D coordination polymers by hydrothermal synthetic and solution methods according to crystal engineering theory. They are shown as following:[Co4(L)2(OH)2(H2O)2]n·nH2O (1)[Ba(HL)(H2O)]n(2)[Co2(L)(H2L)(4,4-bipy)(H2O)2]n·2nH2O(3)[Co4(L)2(4,4-bipy)(OH)2(H2O)3]n-0.25nH2O(4)[Ni3(L)2(4,4-bipy)(H2O)8]n·1.5nH2O(5)[Pb(HL)(2,2-bipy)(H2O)]n(6)[Cd(HL)(2,2-bipy)]n·1.375nH2O(7)[Tb2(2,5-thio)2(ox)(H2O)]n·nH2O(8)[M(L-Tar)(H2O)4]n (M=Sr (9), Co (10))[Co(L-Tar)(H2O)2]n(11)[Cd3(D-Tar)3]n(12)[Pb(D-Tar)]n(13)The coordination polymers were characterized by IR, elementary analysis, thermo-gravimertric and X-ray single crystal diffraction. Luminescence was studied for some polymers. It was also investigated how to control the assembly of coordination polymers with desired properties, and the relation between structure and luminescence property was studied.
