To take advantage of the functional characteristics of lower edge of the phenolichydroxyl of calix [6] arene, the calix[6]arene sulfoxide derivative was synthesized viafour step synthesis, and the products were characterized by IR spectra. Then thecomplexation properties of calix[6]arene and its derivative with uranium and severalmetal ions were investigated by UV spectra. Using chloroform as the solvent, theextraction performance of calix[6]arene and its derivative with uranium and severalmetal ions were investigated. The results are as follows:1. Calix[6]arene was prepared firstly, then the sulfoxide calix[6]arene derivativewas synthesized via sequential reaction of calix[6]arene with1,2-dibromoethane,sodium hydrosulfide, dibromoethane and hydrogen peroxide. IR spectra confirm theintroduction of sulfoxide group on sulfoxide calix[6]arene by comparative analysis ofinfrared spectra of calix [6] arene and its sulfoxide derivative.2. The complexation properties of the calix[6]arene sulfoxide derivative with Na+,Ag+, Cu2+, Ni2+, Pb2+, Fe3+and Cr3+were studied by UV spectra, the results show that,calix[6]arene has the highest coordination ability with Na+, while the derivative hasthe highest coordination ability with Cu2+. The coordination ration between thederivative and Cu2+was determined by Job’s method, demonstrated that the derivativecomplex with Cu2+in many forms.3. The extraction performance of the calix[6]arene and its sulfoxide derivativewith Na+, Ag+, Cu2+, Ni2+, Pb2+, Fe3+and Cr3+were studied, the results show, althoughthe derivative’s extraction efficiency of Na+decreased from72.7%to50.4%, whilethat of Cu2+increased significantly from62.8%to82.7%, which suggest increasingthe complexing ability of Cu2+after the introduction of sulfoxide group on sulfoxidecalix[6]arene. 4. The coordination of the calix[6]arene sulfoxide derivative with uranium byUV spectra, the results show that, red shift occurred after sulfoxide groups introducedcalix[6]arene and calix[6]arene sulfoxide derivative has a higher complexation ofuranium compared with calix[6]arene. The coordination ratio between thecalix[6]arene sulfoxide derivative with uranium is3:2, which was determined by Job’smethod.5. The extraction performance of the calix[6]arene and its sulfoxide derivativewith uranium by detailed of the extraction experiments, the resuts show that,extraction reaction is an exothermic process, the optimum pH value is about4.3forcalix[6]arene sulfoxide derivative and about5for calix[6]arene, the extractionequilibrium time is25and60minutes respectively, in the study of several coexistingcations (Mn2+、Na+、Cu2+、Pb2+、Ni2+、Mg2+), the largest impact on the calix[6]areneextraction of uranium is Mn2+, while that of calix[6]arene sulfoxide derivative is Cu2+,of several coexisting anions(CO32-、SO42-、C2O42-、NO3-), both calix[6]arene andits sulfoxide derivative of the extraction of uranium are not affected by these anions. |
