| Coal-fired power plants will discharge a large amount of Acid gases. Theseexhaust gas can form acid rain which will do a great harm to the environment andalso to the public health. In recent years, affected by market factors, domestic coalprices continue to rise. The costs of the enterprises gain a lot. Forced by thissituation, many power lots began blending higher sulfur coal. This situation wouldlead a sharp increase in environmental pressures. There is a big deviation betweenthe original design coal and the actual coal in parts of coal power plants. Also thismakes a significant increase in the inlet SO2concentration of the desulfurizationunit. It puts a high press on desulfurization equipments. New version of "thermalpower plant air pollutant emission standards," January1,2012is the beginning ofexecution SO2emission concentration limits will be decreased to200mg/m3. Inorder to meet the country’s increasing environmental emissions requirements andavoid the environmental risks, adapt the change in coal market. To increase thecapacity of existing desulfurization system through technological innovation andunder long term safe operation of the boiler is in great need. Therefore, it isnecessary to improve the ability of the desulfurization in coal-fired power plant onthe original equipments. Compared with the new construction. these projects arelimited by legacy systems and site conditions, so it is difficult to design andconstruction. In this paper, Zhang Shan600MW power plant flue gasdesulfurization units rehabilitation project acts as the example. The paper mainlyfocuses on the choice of the modification plans, the process of the modification andalso about its environmental and economic benefits. Through the rehabilitation,Zhang Shan Company has significantly reduced the cost of coal, while reducingemissions of SO2into the atmosphere over thirty thousand tons per year. Studiesshow that for coal-fired thermal power units, by selecting the appropriatedesulfurization program, the transformation will not only improve the economy ofthe unit, but also bring more social and environmental benefits. |
