The belt conveyor, as the important channel of modem mine transportation, has the characteristics of large area, long lines, large pedestrians flow. And its dust removal is important. In view of the producing dust law and dust flowing characteristics in the belt conveyor roadway, there are two common approaches widely used. One method is the linkage spray wet dustfall installed above the conveyor belt. Another method is the comprehensive dust control with the wind and fog. The former has some disadvantages with the inaccurate control signal and the large water consumption. So it’s easy to cause the hydrops in conveyor belt and it’s not suitable for pedestrian tunnel installation. The effect of the latter way is poor in the absence of wind and fog.According to the characteristics analysis of production dust in belt conveyor roadway, the movement law of dust transport was simulated by Fluent software. The results showed that the high concentration of dust in the internal roadway is mainly concentrated above the top of the belt. There is relatively larger concentration in the people crossing side of conveyor roadway. The concentration of dust is low at roadway entrance and the change of dust concentration will gradually increase along the roadway within a certain range of dust concentration.In view of dust flowing characteristics in the belt conveyor roadway, a centrifugal atomization device has been designed and the influence factors of atomization on dustfall efficiency have been analyzed. The formation of flow field and droplets flowing characteristics of centrifugal atomization device under different rotation rates and pressures has been simulated and analyzed by Fluent software, and obtained that the change of atomization effect and concentration. The results showed that the higher speed is, the smaller the particle diameter is, and the droplet concentration and distance become greater, so result in the atomization effect more ideal. The bigger the supply pressure is, the greater the concentration is, but the particle diameter can increases, which will affect the atomization efficiency. Besides, each natural frequency and vibration performance of atomization impeller has been obtained according to the modal analysis of centrifugal atomization device. The amplitude of impeller increases from root to top of the impeller flabellum. The minimum value of nine order natural frequency is590.62Hz and the maximum value is829.49Hz. The each natural frequency of atomization impeller should be avoided, which is useful to avert the resonance and improve the atomization effect.The droplets measurement test bench has been set, and the droplet filed has been measured by using DP-02disdrometer under the different spray distance droplets, rotation rate and water pressure. The particle size distribution has been obtained. The results showed that the drop diameter with the motor synchronous speed3000rpm is less than that of2500rpm. The drop diameter of3MPa water pressure is greater than that of without water pressure. The test result has verified that the simulation of flow field is validity.The industrial experiment has been done in belt conveyor roadway of the Yanzishan coal mine. The results show that the centrifugal atomization device has a good atomization efficiency. The environment of roadway has been improved significantly and the good results that no ground water and pedestrians wet clothes have been obtained, which verified that the feasibility, high efficiency and safety of the centrifugal atomization device is significant.
