Research and development of a new chromatographic stationary phase are the subjectwhich analytical chemistry workers have been studied. The ionic liquid and the liquid crystalhave the structures and the properties respectively,as gas chromatography stationary phases,their separation mechanisms are different. The research work which they are used as gaschromatographic stationary phase has got a certain development respectively. The dual natureof ionic liquid stationary phase could create conditions for complex system analysis, when itis as used gas chromatographic stationary phase. However, only conventional ionic liquid isused as chromatographic stationary phase, the column efficiency is not high; At roomtemperature,the viscosity of ionic liquid is higher, but with the increase of temperature, theviscosity is lower,with the contraction and aggregation, stationary liquid coating destructionand the lower use of temperature of ionic liquid,it is restricted in practical analysis. Ionicliquid polymer with the property of ionic liquid and polymer, has good thermal stability, filmforming and dissolving capacity; It provides an effective way to improve the properties ofionic liquids as gas chromatography stationary phase. Meanwhile, in order to improve thecondition of low column efficiency which is caused by only ionic liquid as stationary phase orpeak asymmetry, the development of the hybrid stationary phase has also aroused theattention of analytical chemistry workers. Liquid crystal as a gas chromatography stationaryphase has a unique separation effect of aromatic isomers, lquid crystal polymer as gaschromatography stationary phase, overcomes the shortages of the poor stability, low columnefficiency, column erosion seriously etc.Due to Small molecule liquid crystal coats liquid film,So far, the mixtures of the ionic liquid polymer and polymer liquid crystal as gaschromatography stationary phase have been reported. A kind of polymer ionic liquid which iscalledN,N’-dipoly-acetoxy acidisopropenyester-2-methyl-benzimidazole hexafluorophosphatewas synthesized using chloroacetic acid, acetic acid, methyl acrylate, hydroxyethylmethacrylate, potassium hexafluorophosphate as raw materials. Silicone-modifiedpolyurethane was synthetized terephthaloyl dioxo butylenes benzoate glycol, disocyanate,amino terminated siloxane as raw materials.The constructions of the ionic liquid and liquidcrystal silicone-modified polyurethane were characterized respectively by IR method. Thestructure of ionic liquid-liquid crystal was determined. The maximum temperature used ofionic liquid-liquid crystal was analyzed and the thermal stability of was investigated by TGA. The chromatography column was made by the mixture of ionic liquid polymer-liquid crystalas chromatography stationary phase. The separating characteristic of the chromatographycolumn was investigated by hydrocarbons, alcohols, ethers, esters, ketones, benzene esters,alkanes, mixtures and benzenes respectively. The results showed that the mixedchromatographic stationary has better resolution and higher column efficiency.
