The silicone polymer refers to polymer that contains silicon atoms, which has some excellent properties, such as high temperature resistance, chemical corrosion, water repellency and insulation. Therefore, the silicone polymer has been widely applied in production and life.This thesis reviews silicone polymers and silicone-modified polyurethane. In addition, with triethoxy(methyl)silane (MTES), diethoxydiphenylsilane (DPDES),1,2-propylene glycol (PG) and acetic acid, we synthesized methyl silicone (MS-OH) and methylphenyl silicone (MPS-OH). The structures and performances were characterized by a series of tests. Also we attempted to modify polyurethane (PU) using MPS-OH. Overall, this paper contains the following:(1) Studies on synthesis, characterization and influencing factors of MS-OHWe synthesized MS-OH using PG and MTES. The amount of PG, temperature, time and amount of catalyst have effect on the performance of product. The optimal experimental conditions are follows:n (OH)/n (OCH3)=1.5:1, the amount of catalyst is7%, alcohol solution temperature is70℃, for3h, the condensation temperature is90℃, for2h. Those conditions ensure complete reaction and the final product is best.(2) Studies on synthesis, characterization and influencing factors of MPS-OHWe synthesized MPS-OH using PG, MTES and DPDES. The amount of PG, temperature, the monomer ratio, reaction time and amount of catalyst had effect on the performance of the product. The optimal experimental conditions are follows:n (OH)/n (OCH3)=1.6:1, n (CH3)/n (Ph)=2.5:1, the amount of catalyst is8%, alcohol solution temperature is70℃, for4h, condensation temperature is90℃, for2h. Those conditions ensure complete reaction and the final product is best.(3) Studies on silicone modifying PUWe used MPS-OH modifying PU. FTIR tests showed polymerization of silicone and PU was a success. DSC tests showed that the micro-phase separation of modified PU was smaller with the increase of silicone; TG tests showed a slight increase in heat resistance of modified PU.
