Butanol is an important organic solvents and chemical raw materials, but also can be used as bio-energy. The polarity of butanol is smaller than ethanol. Butanol has more caloric than ethanol and does little harm to engine. Fermentation of butanol are usually used Clostridium acetobutylicum as strain, it can transform renewable agricultural products(such as starch or glucose) to acetone, butanol, ethanol under anaerobic conditions. The raw materials of butanol fermentation is cheap, and the process is friendly to the environment. So fermentation of butanol is promise. In this paper, Clostridium acetobutylicum CICC8008was studied. Major work is as follows:1. Driving oxygen in the culture by heat and cooling down the culture under high-purity nitrogen, we can achieve the strictly anaerobic condition for Clostridium acetobutylicum CICC8008fermentation.2. Driving oxygen in the culture by heat and cooling down the culture under high-purity nitrogen, Clostridium acetobutylicum CICC8008can be conserve at room temperature in the corn medium(7%, M/M) for three months.3. Medium optimization. The fermentation production yield by Clostridium acetobutylicum CICC8008was3.03g/L initially. The yield raised to9.62g/L after medium optimization.4. The use of industrial waste as raw materials. It was shown that Clostridium acetobutylicum CICC8008could use corn plasm waste water as fermentation medium. So did yeast residue and glucose liquor.5. Domestication of heat-resistant strains. Improving the fermentation temperature is good to the separation operation of butanol. Through the initial domestication, fermentation of Clostridium acetobutylicum CICC8008at42℃was normally.
