Wood-plastics composites are known as a new generation materials for several fields. Currently several commercial WPC are manufactured for the residential construction industry, primarily as lumber for decking and railing systems. The antistatic and flame retardancy of wood-plastics composites was an important problem due to the easy flammability and electrostatic effect of both wood flour and plastics. In this study, four conductive additives were added to WF/PP composites, the carbon black was selected for the best antistatic additive, and it was modified with3-(Methylacryloxyl) propyltrimethoxy silane. The M-CB and EG were filled into the WF/PP composites. The aim of this work was to study the anti-static and flame retardancy properties of the WF/PP composites, it was studied based on mechanical instrument, surface resistivity test, limited oxygen index (LOI) test, vertical burning test, thermogravimetric analysis, cone calorimetry and SEM. Meanwhile, it was studied to the mechanism of synergistic flame with EG and IFR for the WF/PP composites.Study shows that the graphite, antistatic agent129, antistatic agent163and carbon black were added to WF/PP composites, the conductivity of carbon black is the best packing, when carbon black loading reaches13wt%, the tensile strength, flexural strength, impact strength improved25.4%,15.0%and8.7%respectively, and the resistivity reaches108Ω2/sq.The M-CB as an antistatic additive, enhances the mechanical properties and anti-static properties of the WF/PP composites. When the M-CB loading reach7wt%, the tensile strength, flexural strength, impact strength improved35.6%,23.1%and21.7%respectively, and the resistivity reaches108Ω/sq.A synergistic effect between EG and IFR(APP/CFA) showed high efficiency in flame retardance of the WF/PP composites, LOI value could reach38.8%and UL-94V-0rating was obtained at the optimum ratio of EG/IFR(2:3), kept the25wt%total content of additives. The systems can make more flame retardancy properties and have a higher thermal stability and mechanical properties. But after water resistance test, it has dropped for the flame retardant performance of the WF/PP composites.The flame retardant and anti-static composites were prepared by filling M-CB and EG. The results indicated that the tensile strength, flexural strength and Izod impact of WPC with25wt%of EG/M-CB (3:2)showed an improvement of2.0%,5.2%and15.6%; the resistivity dropped to108Ω/sq; Combustion performance test showed that it had good flame retardance and smoke suppression effect, showing significant flame retardant and anti-static performance.
