The models establishments and tool path generations of machining parts are twoimportant components of modern CNC machining technology. The traditional machiningmethods can not effectively combine the above two parts, and it is more difficultespecially when it comes to products with complicated curves and surfaces. Therefore itis of great importance to study how effectively combining complex curves and surfacesmodeling with tool path generations.Firstly, on the basis of a variety of curves and surfaces modeling, this paper usesNURBS to establish the mathematical models of complex curves and surfaces.Considering the traditional modeling methods are difficult to meet the needs of modernmachining and manufacturing, because of complex calculations and large workloads. This paper proposes a new parametric modeling method. And on this basis, useMATLAB software to write the interface of parametric modeling. By the interface usersonly need to appropriately modify the geometric parameters of curves and surfaces, andit will be able to generate the models meeting the needs. So it avoids the inconvenienceof reading programs. Then taking advantage of the existing laboratory equipments, this paper designs andconstructs the experimental platform of multi-axis motion control. By this platform, wecan study and analyze the trajectory generations of curves and surfaces models on theparametric modeling stage. In order to facilitate the control of multi-axis system, thispaper develops its own VB control programs. Finally, after the fitting coordinates of curves and surfaces are appropriatelyprogramming processed, this paper puts the programs into multi-axis control systemsoftware, and then runs the program to record the changes of data points for each axis, and generates the trajectories of curves and surfaces. Then compare the trajectories ofcurves and surfaces generated by the multi-axis control system and the parametricmodeling method. The results show that multi-axis control system can accuratelygenerate the trajectories of curves and surfaces models. While the causes of system errorsare detailed analyzed, and the system is improved.
