Tobacco specific nitrosamines (TSNAs) are harmful ingredients of tobacco, so reducing tobacco TSNAs has been concerned by the tobacco industry and the health organization. In the burley main producing areas of Jianshi County, Hubei, bionic signal molecule (BSM), originating from oligophagous insect oral secretions, was used to process tobacco plant after topping. According to the grading standards and cigarette tobacco review suction modulation standards, burley tobacco is processed for visual quality and internal quality evaluation, high performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS) was used to determine tobacco TSNAs, and tobacco alkaloids, nitrates and common chemical constituents were analyzed. Meanwhile, effect of different nitrogen fertilizer levels, fertilizer and BSM combined function were studied. In the south campus of University of Science and Technology of China, effect of different nitrogen fertilizer levels and BSM for TSNAs and alkaloid, nitrate content of flue-cured tobacco were analyzed.In Jianshi burley tobacco field, after fertilizing of16kg/acre,20kg/acre,24kg/acre, after BSM treatment, contents of total alkaloids in burley middle leaves reduced by20.74%,21.28%,13.19%respectively; nitrate content decreased by10.29%,11.93%,7.21%respectively; nitrite content decreased by15.28%,13.48%,13.44%respectively; NNK were reduced by8.43%,6.88%and31.54%, NNN declined34.25%,30.56%,58.73%. As to the effects of BSM and fertilizer combined on three different nitrogen fertilizer rates, total alkaloids were lower by19.51%,24.26%,36.00%, respectively; nitrate content decreased by13.24%,13.76%,13.51%; nitrite content decreased22.02%,15.72%,18.51%; decline of NNK were56.02%,19.27%and59.50%; decline of NNN were48.40%,48.61%,65.50%. Overall, impacts of BSM and fertilizer combined on alkaloids, nitrate, nitrite and NNK, NNN content are greater than BSM alone. Tobacco samples grading results showed that after BSM and BSM combined fertilizer treatment, the proportion of the superior tobacco of the middle leaves rising from nearly70%to an average of75%, thus farmers’ income would increase60RMB each667m2. Samples of cigarette smoking results showed that the BSM treatment can reduce rough feeling, excitement, while style characteristics are not weakened, so the BSM and fertilizer treatment resulted to a strong alternative. In short, BSM handling characteristics while maintaining the style of Enshi Burley on the basis of reducing NNK, NNN, and improving the proportion of superior tobacco and farmers’income, which was conducive to the promotion of this harm reduction technique.In the south campus of University of Science and Technology of China, flue-cured tobacco were studied, and the tested varieties was NC89.3.5grams of nitrogen was applied on each plant, then dressing0,3.5g,7.0g respectively, afterwards BSM (0.1μM/L) was smeared after topping. The results showed that: TSNAs, four major alkaloids content, nitrate and nitrite content in fertilization group were all higher than the control group of substances corresponding, and the overall material content of high fertilization group were higher than low fertilization group. While in the7.0N treatment, NNK had an average growth of14.5%, NNN had an average growth of73.5%; in10.5N processing, NNK had an average growth of103.5%, NNN had an average growth of116.5%. And under the same amount of fertilizer levels, growth rate of TSNAs content in middle leaves was higher than the upper leaves.
