Blended type cigarette is the leading tobacco product in the world, but also the development direction of China’s cigarette products. Burley tobacco is one of the core raw material of blended type cigarette and the basis for the formation of style of blended type cigarette, so processing technique of Burley tobacco is one of the key technique of blended type cigarette products. In this study, experiments on adjustment of processing parameters, drying characteristics and packet formula of Burley tobacco were conducted, and the main results are as follows:1. The experiment on Burley tobacco processing parameter adjustment showed that the dry bulb temperature gradient of the first, second and third district should be arranged from high to low. Looking from the actual result, higher dry bulb temperature in second district and lower dry bulb temperature in third district was more conducive to maintain the aroma quality and quantity and reduce the loss of aroma. In the first district, temperature of the dry bulb and wet bulb, and moisture exhaust volume to should be pay attention. The main role of the second district is maintaining the material temperature and prolonging the constant rate drying period of time, so moisture exhaust volume was smaller. The main role of the third district was removing residual moisture, so its moisture exhaust amount was bigger.2. The drying characteristics research of Burley tobacco showed that the drying characteristics of Brazil BF2 and Enshi B3 was uniform under different dry bulb temperature conditions, which showed that the positive correlation existed between the drying rate, heating rate of surface temperature and dry bulb temperature. The final surface temperature was approximately equal to the dry bulb temperature. When Brazil BF2 and Enshi B3 drying under different wet bulb temperature conditions, the drying rate was almost equal. When the drying was near to equilibrium moisture content (critical point), there showed the higher wet bulb temperature, the smaller drying rate and the surface temperature rising rate. The final surface temperature was close to the dry bulb temperature, and the higher wet bulb temperature, the lower surface temperature. Under conditions of dry bulb temperature of 130℃ and dry and wet bulb temperature of 60℃, the drying characteristics of different burley tobacco cultivars showed some differences, and there showed the trend of Brazil BF2 > Enshi B3.3. The study on burley tobacco packet formula showed that after grouping the sample processing, the pertinence of parameter setting was strong, processing intensity was proper, the treating effect was ideal, which effectively eliminated the Burley bad breath and retained the advantages of different materials, so the overall sensory quality significantly improved. Through the packet processing, processing of the higher level leaf group retained the aroma of high-quality burley tobacco, so the role of the high grade leaf group in the formulation was enhanced, which could keep the cigarette flavor and improve the benefit.
