With the rapid development of China’s economy, Camshaft as one part of thekey high-tech fields of combustion engine, automotive, mechanical engineering andshipbuilding industry, etc and its surface quality direct impact on the quality andlongevity of engine and related products. Therefore, in this paper the grinding forceof camshaft NC grinding as the research object, Based on the review of the currentresearch status of camshaft NC grinding force, Analyze the grinding force theory,the mathematical model for camshaft grinding force is derived. Build camshaftgrinding force measurement platform, grinding force test material is based chilledcast iron camshaft, in order to establish a camshaft grinding force prediction model.Research the grinding parameters on the influence of camshaft grinding force andsurface roughness, provides a guide for the practical camshaft grinding. The mainresearch contents of this paper have the following several aspects:(1) In view of the current grinding force theoretical knowledge, camshaftgrinding force mathematical model was deduced. Analyze the velocity andacceleration change of wheel head in the condition of constant linear velocitygrinding, grinding point linear velocity and acceleration under the constant angelvelocity grinding. Based on the above analysis, the headstock C-axis rotation speedof camshaft practical grinding is appropriate adjusted, in order to improve thequality and efficiency of machining of cam.(2) Based on the measuring working principle of the dynamometer system ofresistance strain gauge, Aim to the camshaft NC composite grinding machine,camshaft NC grinding force measurement platform has been established. The workand calibration principle of a single apex dynamometer system have been detailedanalysis, calibrated the dynamometer system. The quality and corresponding voltagewere linear fitted, then the calibration curve obtained.(3) Experimental data are collected through the experiment of grinding force,the camshaft grinding force prediction model is established. Analyze the influence ofthe grinding point line speed and the radius of curvature on grinding force. Through using rough-meter measures different key parts of the cam surface roughness andobtain the values. Studied the grinding parameters influence rule on grinding forceand surface roughness of the cam circle and the sensitive place and at the top of thecircle part. Experimental results show that: the grinding force decreases with wheelvelocity increases, the surface roughness is correspondingly increased. Grindingforce increases with the grinding depth and C-axis rotational velocity of the basecircle increases. Under the condition of150m/s ultra-high wheel speed, increasesgrinding depth the cam surface roughness value increases gently, so we can increasethe grinding depth appropriately to improve processing efficiency.
