Nowadays, the waste water produced in our daily life and modern industries mayhave serious impact on our life and body health without strict treatment, so watertreatment is very important. There is a very economic and effective way to remove thepollutants in waste water named adsorption method. So the preparation of adsorbent isvery important. In this paper, we presented a new adsorbent use semi-coke as its mainraw material, namely a new modified semi-coke adsorbent. As we all know, semi-cokewas produced by coal under the condition of incomplete pyrolytic which is a solidoutcome, also, the fuel gas people used will produce semi-coke as a by-product. If thesemi-coke not treated will pile up like a mountain, it will be a solid source of pollutionand cause serious pollution to the environment. So it is necessary to modify thesemi-coke which can achieve environmentally friendly. This paper mainly studied the preparation of modified semi-coke in variousconditions and its adsorption effects on inorganic phosphate ion and fluorine inwastewater. The experiment mainly conducted in four steps: Firstly, study the preparationconditions. The effects of the sizes of coal particles、 the pretreatment time orpretreatment power of microcomputer microwave、reaction time、reaction temperature、add different modified substances during the preparation of semi-coal wereexperimentally investigated and analyzed. Then according to the adsorption effects oninorganic phosphate ion and fluorine in wastewater choose the optimal prepareconditions. The second step, study the adsorption conditions. Under the analysis of thefirst step preparing the modified semi-coke, then study the treatment factors’ effect onthe adsorption process of semi-coke to obtain the optimal treatment conditions, thesetreatment factors can be the pH、the adsorbent dosage、the oscillation time、the initialconcentration and so on. After a series of experiments, obtaining the optimalconditions for adsorption treatment.Thirdly, adopting thermodynamic analysis and theLangmuir adsorption isotherm fitting methods to obtain the modified semi-coal’sadsorptive capacity to phosphate ion and fluorine. The fourth step, using the Infraredspectroscopy and Electronic scanning electron microscope to characterize the internal structure and outer surface properties of the prepared semi-coal adsorbent.
