Waterborne polyurethane is a kind of environmentally friendly polymermaterials. In this paper, by adding flame retardant FRC-6, for synthesis of organicphosphorus flame retardant modified waterborne polyurethane resin, and for the flameretardant properties was studied. Through the study found that: as the flame retardantFRC-6content gradually increased, thermal decomposition rate of polyurethaneresin (PU) in gradually reduced, but also has adverse effects: the polyurethane resin(PU) the initial thermal decomposition minimum temperature is reduced. But overall,by adding the FRC-6flame retardants, or make larger improved its flame retardantproperties of the polyurethane resin.Research data show that by adding flame retardant FRC-6, made of themodified polyurethane resin the initial thermal decomposition of the minimumtemperature is low, at the same time there is also a low resistance to water, but it willcause a decrease in thermal decomposition speed much and after combustion ofcarbon residue rate increased. When the flame retardants of FRC-6P elementcontained in the mass fraction of the total weight of the raw material was2.3%, theoxygen index is28%. Measured by vertical burning test of the flame retardantperformance of PU has reached UL294V22level. Of the modified polyurethane resinits combustion properties from flammable into flame retardant, flame retardantperformance got the larger ascension.Flame retardant flame retardant effect of FRC-6can be explained by the flameretardant mechanism of condensed phase. We know that any heats material must be toachieve its own ignition point above can be burning, in the process of the gradualwarming, flame retardant FRC-6P-C key in the first break due to the lower bondenergy, fracture after containing P element groups first react with oxygen to generatephosphoric acid (H3PO4), phosphate immediately heated dehydration, which in turnfurther generate metaphosphate, metaphosphate itself is not very stable, and after ashort spontaneous aggregation into more stable rings poly phosphoric acid.
