The pipeline is the main transportation channel for oil and natural gas, it takes great responsibility ofthe energy transportation. The pipeline spreads across the country and its safety is the focus of the wholesociety. While the pipeline may happen to sink or rise, to be moved or even broken because of geologicaldisasters or human destruction. So it is very necessary to monitor the abnormal displacement of thepipeline. As a brand new space positioning technology, GPS has substituted for optical and electronicalmeasurement in many measurement fields as well as in displacement monitoring. Using GPS indisplacement monitoring, efficiency will be improved and outdoor work will be reduced. So the GPSmeasurement technology is introduced in the displacement monitoring for pipeline.GPS static relative positioning technology is used to spot the pipeline, its principle is elaborated, theerrors that influence the accuracy are analyzed. And the key technologies in displacement monitoring arestudied; a method that can detect cycle slip and gross errors is presented in the paper. The determination ofthe ambiguity is studied; a fast search method for ambiguity is presented. A complete algorithm fromprocessing source data to the final result is presented and it is programmed to form a displacementmonitoring program. Observation data from IGS station is computed to verify the positioning result, erroranalysis and comparison with the station’s accurate coordinates verifies the accuracy and validity of thealgorithm.
