Diamond saw blade is the most important tool in stone processing industry. Itsultra-thin structural characteristics cause the low lateral stiffness of saw blade. Due to itslow lateral stiffness, the saw blade causes large deformation, severe vibrations and harshnoise, which would do harm to the environment and human life. Numerous studies showthat slotting on the substrate have significant effects on vibration and noise reduction ofcircular saw blade. In this subject, structural optimization of slotted circular saw blades wasbased on MATLAB, and vibration characteristics of circular saw blades was explored indepth through comparation and validation of experiments. The main contents are asfollows:Firstly according to optimization design variables, Circular saw blade model withquadratic NURBS curve groove structure was created successfully. The three controlpoints’ coordinate values of quadratic NURBS curves(the six coordinate values), thenumber of slots and the weight factor are able to identify a total of eight design variables.Secondly, the fitness function is successfully established, and the parallel computing ofMATLAB and ANSYS are completed. The command stream file that can be recognized inANSYS software is written in MATLAB m-file. Finite element analysis of circular sawblades was Based on ANSYS to get the results file. The results of the data file was read andanalyzed in MATLAB to obtain the fitness value.Thirdly, the optimization program is written by using MATLAB language. It needs toset a reasonable objective function and constraints, then use MATLAB optimizationtoolbox for programming and computing. It includes many genetic manipulation of coding,decoding, selection, crossover and mutation, etc.Fourthly, vibration characteristics of slotting saw blade are analyzed on ANSYSsoftware. Through the comparison of slotted blade circular saw and non slotted circular sawblade, we will study the effects of slotting on vibration attenuation.Finally, the comparison of the transverse vibration acceleration amplitude byexperimental methods is made between the slotting circular saw and the common circularsaw. This will further verify the vibration and noise reduction effect of slotting circular sawblade.In this subject, the vibration characteristics of slotted circular saw blade when working are analyzed to provides a theoretical basis of noise and vibration reduction. Theexperimental results proved that vibration energy of circular saw blade after optimizationwas lower than the common circular saw. This research result have great use value onslotted technology of circular saw blades.
