Coal in our country as a developing country, still plays an important role innational economy. With the increasing of coal mining depth, the open-pit coal mine willbe the development trend of underground mining, underground engineering not onlybear the normal of the coal production work, but ensure the safety of personnel in suchaspects as protection of coal resources reasonable use has a crucial role. The mosteconomic and effective construction method for conditions excavation in undergroundengineering is the drilling and blasting method. How to reduce the rock damage byblasting becomes the important topic now and in the future for a period of time. Basedon the platform of LS-DYNA, the tunnel blasting construction was simulatednumerically and was predicted the range of surrounding rock damage.The paper consists of the following sections:1. Based on further comparison of the drifting machine method and the advantagesand disadvantages of drilling and blasting method, the paper from four aspects of theroadway of geological structure, the direction of the construction of the tunnelingefficiency, investment ability, excavation control expounds the drilling and blastingmethod in the foreseeable time may be not completely replaced by machine, and wasestablished the research significance2. The broken rock blasting mechanism is studied in theory, the constitutive modelof rock blasting, the elastic model, the fracture model, the damage model and fractaldamage model, are introduced respectively. Combined with a variety of theoreticalanalysis, this paper was identified the basic theory of continuous and discontinuous rockblasting in rock mass.3. Introduced the characteristics of blasting damage of rock mass, starting from thetheory, without considering the initial damage of rock mass, this paper initiallyforecasted the scope in the tunnel blasting construction damage of rock mass, the radiusof crushing zone and ruptured zone.4. Using software platform of LS-DYNA, the parameter Settings was discussedabout the calculation method of LS-DYNA systematically, the control equation, the time integral, artificial viscosity control volume, time step control and without reflectionboundary etc, provided the basis for follow-up work theory.5. On the software platform of LS-DYNA, the continuous and discontinuous rockmass was simulated separately. Through the stress analysis, in turn, drew the range ofrock mass damage, verified the correctness of the theory, promoted the popularizationand application of computer simulation technology.6. From the perspective of stress, the stress concentration place in roadway wasanalyzed, came to some conclusions, provided certain theoretical basis for construction.
