With the development of the global machine tool industry towardscomprehensiveness, high efficiency, multifunction, low cost and high precision, thedevelopment trends of the large chain magzine and globoidal cam type ATC areinevitable.At present,compared with the foreign advanced technology, the level ofthe domestic tool magazine and ATC are much lower. Consequently, the exploitationand the study of the large size chain magazine and globoidal cam type ATC aresignificant.To begin with,based on the parameters of tool magazine provided by cooperativeunit,a chain magazine is designed. In order to improve the positioning accuracy ofcutting tools and improve the efficiency of tool selecion, the servo-actuator isutilized for driving. The amount of tools is80; the type of tool shank is BT50;the total deadweight is1300kg.The3d modeling and kinematics simulation for chainmagazine are completed by Pro/e.Otherwise, the bases for selecting scheme of chain layout are provided byanalyzing the reasons and influence of the chain polygon effect. Computationalformulas of chain tension at the beginning and terminative meshing points are built,with the initial tension and frictional force as the unknown parameters, by analyzing statics and dynamics of chain.Moreover,the chain tension detecting system is designed.The correlation betweenforce of sliding friction and the quantity and distribution of tools is presented. Aboveall, the maximum forces acting on the chain and the maximum loads beared by thebody are obtained. Then the static and modal analysis of the body are analysed bytaking the advantage of ANASYS Workbench software under the assumption ofmaximum loads, finally the results of equivalent stress and total deformation can beused to improve the body’s structure.At last, a performance testing bed for a domestic globoidal cam ATC is designed,in order to provide the detecting schemes to improve structure and performance ofdomestic ATC. Test items are setted,and detection schemes are worked out.Then,assembly drawing and detailing are completed.
