The fracturing technology is an important measure which is contributes to improveoil production in the process of drilling. It is widely used in low permeability reservoirs,and have been achieved a good result in the transformation of medium and highpermeability reservoir stimulation. Oil proppant as one of the essential items in thefracturing process, it is per formation affects the results of hydraulic fracturing directly.Oil proppant is a lot of solid particles which can support the fractures and has certainstrength, it is also an important medium which keep deep stratum rock fracture crackstatus.This paper is using the low grade bauxite for main materials, adding G power,manganese power, feldspar and dolomite and other supporting materials, throughorthogonal design experiments, optimizing experiment formula and sintering technology,and then considering the cost and economic benefit in the industrial production, gettingthe right formula to prepare the low density and high strength oil proppant. According tothe China National Petroleum Company standard QSY125-007, volume density, apparentdensity, damage rate and acid solubility of proppant specimen are tested. Meanwhile, thephase composition, crystal structure and microstructure (surface) of the proppant areinvestigated by XRD and SEM.The results show that, G power can reduce the sintering temperature and the thermalexpansion coefficient; manganese powder can form the solid solution with Al2O3inbauxite, increase lattice defects, activate and promote sintering; Feldspar and dolomite cangenerate liquid phase at high temperature. All in all, adding these auxiliary materials caneffectively improve the performance of oil proppant. Through orthogonal designexperiment and optimize the experimental formula, and considering the generation costand economic benefit, one best recipe is obtained: it is89wt%bauxite,8wt%G power,2wt%manganese powder,1wt%dolomite, when the temperature is1320℃, the result ofthe performance is: The volume density is1.59g/cm3, the apparent density is2.89g/cm3,the damage rate is3.46%, those indicators meet the requirements of the low density high strength oil proppant in China National Petroleum Company standard QSY125-007, theacid solubility is5.84%and not meet the standard, but it meet the requirements of factoryis less than7.00%in practical production.
