High speed and precision are not only the constant pursuit of CNC system, butthe inevitable result with the development of processing technologies. As therequirement of parts complexity and surface quality increasing, traditional processingmethods are becoming more and more difficult to meet the requirements. Thus, thisarticle will study on smoothing interpolation processing methods for tiny segments. The main contents are as follows:(1) Propose perfect classification criteria to processing instruction points, todivide them into applicable and unapplicable respectively to smooth processing area.(2) Fix continuous tiny segments’ track by adding supplementary points. Takingturning points as dividing points, continuous tiny segments will be reconstructed withcubic spline curve. And error between the original instruction point and curve will beused as the criteria to refit the spline curve.(3) Anti-overcut processing is considered for the areas which are not applicableto smooth processing.(4) A speed-adaptive curve interpolation method based on the second-orderTaylor expansion is summarized by comparing some spline interpolation methods. Onthe basis of the study on a variety of speed planning methods, this paper proposes amodified acceleration-deceleration programming method based on the trigonometricfunction. It achieves jerk long continuous and does not need too much time withstrong practicability.(5) At last, this article will present the architecture and function module of anOpen CNC System developed by our research team. And processing experiments willbe done to prove the feasibility of the method after the algorithm mentioned aboveimplanting into the CNC.The research on smoothing interpolation processing of continuous tiny segmentsmeets the requirement of high speed and precision processing. Also, this willinevitably promote the scientific research on CNC more significantly and practically.
