Annual losses from corrosion are around4%percent of gross national product.Corrosion damage is caused by a higher percentage in the petrochemical enterprise. Industryeconomic losses due to corrosion are estimated about$2billion according to the Chinapetrochemical company1989. Period is shortened by corrosion. The corrosion can cause anexplosion, fire and personal injury accidents. The corrosion can cause that the device is shortof life.Since the late1990s, China’s crude oil changes a lot, the density, the sulfur and nitrogencontent and the acid value increase; At the same time, the domestic refineries crude oilimports increased, crude oil constantly tend to be high sulfur and high acid value due to priceand origin factors, so the oil refining plant equipment corrosion goes up. The oil refining plantequipment corrosion protection becomes more and more important considering the devicelong period and safety operation.This paper is aimed at the unit’s main equipment corrosion failure problems in the Dagangpetrochemical company, included5million tons/year atmospheric and vacuum distillationunit,1.6million tons/year catalytic cracking unit,300000tons/year catalytic reforming unit,50000tons/year reforming gasoline benzene extraction unit and40000Nm3/h hydrogenproduction unit. Through the corrosion environment and the failure parts physical andchemical analysis, the metallographic analysis for the corrosion mechanism research, we findthe failure reasons of these areas; Based on the corrosion mechanism of these parts, byimproving the equipment structure and the equipment material, optimizing unit operation,increasing or optimizing anticorrosive measures, we explore and research the corrosionprotection measures for the above-mentioned parts. Through the exploration, we find suitableand effective protection methods for the mainly units of Dagang petrochemical company.
