Environmental protection is a common face in today’s world andtoday’s China, one of the major issues in2013, the12th session of theNational People’s Congress and people’s political consultative conference, theenvironmental protection becomes the hot topic in "two sessions" members."Beautiful China" is written into the party18report for the first time, improving the level of urban living garbage disposal, and comprehensivelyimprove the urban environment landscape, to create a livable urbanenvironment, is our unremitting pursuit. Therefore, in the urban planninglayout constraint, tension, high environmental requirements of urban centralarea building municipal solid waste transfer station, how to handle therelationship between the station and the surrounding neighborhoods and theenvironment, has become the important research subject in the constructionof the waste transfer station. This paper attempts to take five large modern, garden-like municipalsolid waste transfer stations in Shanghai city center as the research object, through the systematic study was carried out on the hub in the exterior space, analyzes the central city municipal waste transfer station of external spacedesign considerations, components, etc., summarizes its external space designprinciples and put forward the corresponding design strategy, combined withthe related case analysis, expects to offer reference to the municipal solidwaste transfer station project’s design, construction in China. The Paper is divided into six chapters of Shanghai central city’smunicipal solid waste transfer stations, the essay discusses the design ofexternal space, and the fourth chapter and the fifth chapter is the main part ofthe paper. The first chapter is the introduction, elaborated the researchbackground and significance, research objects and scope definition, researchstatus at home and abroad, research methods and research framework ofthesis. The second chapter is the summary of municipal solid waste transferstations and its exterior space, discusses the definition, development, types ofthe waste transfer station and defines the definition of the exterior space, composition elements, constraints, and classification. The third chapterthrough to the waste transfer station in the exterior space concept, the typesof space, space level and space elements of Shanghai central city’s municipal solid waste transfer stations’ exterior space resolution. The fourth chaptertakes five waste transfer stations in exterior space design case as the analysisfoundation, proposes the exterior space’s design principle of municipal solidwaste transfer stations in central city as "ecological environmental protection,people-oriented, overall coordination, pluralism, representative", andaccordingly put forward the "passive ecological technology design, buildingpublic open public space and architectural landscape integration, diversification, to establish a visual impact point" of the design strategy. Thefifth chapter is the case analysis part, through the three one-piece, twoclustered case introduction and analysis of municipal solid waste transferstations, and giving its external space design research evaluation, in order tooffer the more intuitive understanding of the waste transfer station of externalspace design. The conclusion of the sixth chapter is the last part of the article, the exterior space design of municipal solid waste transfer stations inShanghai central city was summarized and induction, and the exterior spacedesign of municipal solid waste transfer station in the future was discussedand looked forward to, in order to provide a little help for future projects suchas architectural design.
