The emission characters of inland ships was researched by conducting on-boardemission tests in this study, by using portable emission measurement system (PEMS).Emission factors of inland ships were obtained based on the tests data, the emissionfactors of CO, NOX, HC, PM is52g/(kg fuel),75.6g/(kg fuel),5.4g/(kg fuel),7.3g/(kg fuel) respectively. The instantaneous concerntration of CO, NOX, HC, PM emittedfrom ships shows strong fluctuation because of the continuous adjustment of the speedand power when ships inward and outward the port, while it is stable in cruise stage. Thefuel consumption of inland ships in2011was estimated according to their freightturnover in2011, combining with the emission factor mentioned before, the emissioninventory of inland ships in2011obtained, which concluded with52.7104t、3.3104t、31.5104t、4.5104t for NOX, HC, CO, PM respectively. The emission inventories of Tianjin port,Tangshan port, Qinhuangdao port andHuanghau port were established based on parameters such as speed, sailing time, andgeographical information from automatic identification system (AIS) and activity-basedapproach. Results showed that the top two ship types of emissions were container andbulk ships; main engine is the major emission source among the three engine types. Theemission was distributed accordance with marched route, into fishnet of1km1km,with using ARCGIS, which indicated that the more ships came closed to ports, the higherdensity of emission, and the area within15nautical miles from the center of the port isthe densest area of emissions. Different measures shoule be taken according to the scaleand characteristics of a port. the advice is given in this paper which is using the shorepower for Tianjin port and establishing decelaration area and emission control area forthe rest.
