In this paper, we used CuCl2·2H2O as Cu sources, NaOH as precipitant, C6H12O6asreductant, SDS as template agent, glycol-water or water as solvent to explore the synthesisof different morphology of Cu2O via a reflux method. The influence of the volume ratios ofalcohol to water, reflux time, Cu sources, alcohol-water system and SDS on the productionswere also studied, and the obtained productions were characterized by XRD, FE-SEM.Besides, the different morphology of Cu2O was further analyzed by TEM. The possiblemechanism of surfactant serving as template and Oswald ripening process in the differentmorphology of Cu2O synthesis was also discussed. The pure Cu2O powders have beenformed in our synthetic reactions. the morghologies of product are respectively hollow cube,cavitated octahedral and hole sphere structures with the edge of1μm.Using CuCl22H2O as Cu sources, in the system of glycol-water the volume ratio ofglycol to water is2:1, the template agent is SDS (SDS was added into the precipitantsolution), we obtained the production that mixture of Cu2O cubes and octahedral powder.The Cu2O from the inside out cavitated gradually under the effect of Ostwald ripening withtime, finally we obtained hollow Cu2O cube and cavitated octahedral. Otherwise, if thetemplate agent SDS was added to the copper solution, the obtained production is Cu2Oporous sphere. Therefore the different solvent systems has an important influence on themorphology and structure of products, change the solvent adding order and reaction systemcan promote the Cu2O with different morphologies.The SDS act as a template as well as a surfactant to assistantly formed Cu2O powder. Wesynthesize different morghologies of Cu2O, because SDS it presents various state withdifferent concentrations in the system. With the increase of SDS, the surfactant SDS canacceleate the growth rate and the uniformity of the product. In addition, the particlediameter of product increased. With the extension of time, we formed Cu2O hollow cube,cavitated octahedral and hole sphere structures under the effect of Ostwald ripening.
